20 Designs That Changed The Game: Nike Air Flight Huarache

All during this summer's London Olympics, Nike will be taking a look back at icons of performance throughout the last two decades in a daily ongoing series highlighting the "20 Designs That Changed The Game."

(If you want to cheat and look ahead, check out our preview of the first five models included in the series. I know, I know. I'm not sure how the XI was left out either.)

After kicking things off with a detailed look at the Air Force 180 yesterday, today's spotlight veers towards a more minimal and conceptual model in the original Air Flight Huarache.

Designed by both Tinker Hatfield and Eric Avar after a water skiing trip that'd provide Tinker with some unique inspiration, the Huarache was beloved for its exceptional fit and plush feel. The fact that the Fab 5 were the coolest dudes ever and wore them didn't hurt either.

Check out the two original colorways of the Flight Huarache below in detail, and be sure to also dive into our firsthand account straight from Tinker if you can't get enough of the Huarache today.

The shoe that started the long journey back to a more natural setup for basketball.

Great game changer.
